RealD 3D System

Introduced in 2005, RealD enjoyed a significant early lead in cinema 3D. As of 2010 it remains one of the most popular systems in use worldwide. RealD also claims to be working with consumer manufacturers to bring 3D into the home.

Notes:

• In the first polarized systems viewers would lose the 3D effect if they tilted their head but this was fixed in later versions (by using circularized polarization).
• It has been reported that RealD may not be as good from wide viewing angles but we have yet to confirm this.
