The Television Statistics Person (Stats)
The statistics person or statistics recorder is a position found in programs where statistics need to be recorded and shown to the director, presenters and/or audience. Stats people are commonly found in sports programs.
The stats person must have good knowledge of the subject matter. For example, in a football game they will need to accurately recognise and record the referee's calls.
Knowledge of computer graphics systems is usually required. The stats person needs to enter data which will be used as graphics during the program.
In some cases the stats person might be expected to contact the director or presenters from time to time to relay relevant statistics. In other cases they might simply enter the stats into the system to be used by others as required.
