Windows Media Player Screen Capture Problems
Windows Media Player uses a DirectShow Overlay to improve playback performance. This overlay is invisible to many screen capture applications, resulting in a blank, single-colour rectangle where the video should be.
To work around this issue in Windows Media Player 10, try disabling overlays. Just do this for the capture, then turn the overlays back on.
- Open Windows Media player.
- Select "Tools" -> "Options...".
- Click the "Performance" tab.
- Click the "Advanced..." button.
- Uncheck "Use overlays".
- Click "OK".
Note: DVD video playback uses different overlay settings in the Windows Media Player.
